Frequently asked questions

Your question may already be answered here.

Using the app

How do I find fruit trees near me?

Open the app and allow location access. The map shows all fruit trees and public gardens near you, with photo, species and harvest season.

How do I add a new tree?

Tap the add button, take or pick a photo, drop a pin on the map and identify the species — manually or with AI help. The community validates it and the spot joins the global base. It takes about 30 seconds.

What does the fruit “season” mean?

It’s when that species usually bears fruit in your region. You can also mark whether a specific tree is fruiting right now, helping others who come to harvest later.

Do I have to pay to use it?

No. Fruit Map is 100% free for everyone.

Can I pick the fruit I find?

In public spaces, harvest responsibly: respect the right season, take only what you need and leave some for others and wildlife. On private property, always ask first.

I found wrong data or a tree that no longer exists. What do I do?

How is my data handled?

We take your privacy seriously and follow data-protection law. See the Privacy and LGPD pages in the site footer for details.

NGO and how to support

Is Fruit Map an NGO?

The app is run by a non-profit organization devoted to food security and urban sustainability. Learn more at fruitmapp.org.

How can I help or volunteer?

You help by mapping and validating trees in the app, spreading the word and, if you want to go further, applying as a volunteer on the Careers page. Buying from our Shop also supports the project.

Can I use Fruit Map data for research or a project in my city?

Yes — we love partnering with researchers, schools and city governments. Reach out via the Contact page so we can find the best format.
